Århus is famous well beyond Denmark’s borders for its happening music scene. Some of the biggest names on the Danish music scene started out here, and Århus is still a hothouse for up-and-coming bands. Not surprisingly therefore, there are live gigs playing every evening at the city’s many venues. Enjoy a cappuccino, brandy or just the atmosphere in ”the Heart of the City”: the Latin Quarter. Or sample the city’s speciality tipple known as “Århus sættet”: A beer from the city’s own brewery - Ceres – chased down with a genuine Arnbitter.

Theatresports and tango Throughout the year, the city’s small stages pull in the crowds with mad-cap competitions in improvisation drama and off-beat acts. Theatresports and stand-up comedy are just two of the disciplines that have gained huge popularity. Latin American rhythms, seductive tangos or pure and unadulterated rock – there are all kinds of ways of working up a sweat and dancing till you drop at one of the city’s many music venues. Århus also hosts mammoth rock events such as the annual Århus Open Air, Grøn Koncert and Rockshow.
