Odense from a Child's view
|
|
Odense is a child-friendly city with lots of cultural activities for the little ones.
|
In the centre you can visit the children’s cultural house Fyrtøjet at Hans Christian Andersen’s House. Every summer children and adults perform in the Hans Christian Andersen Parade in the garden behind the museum dedicated to the writer.
In the summer children also perform the Hans Christian Andersen play on the stage in the Funen Village, which is a living museum with rural buildings in the suburb of Hjallese.
Odense Zoo is always a hit for children of all ages. It is one of the biggest zoos in Denmark.
Don't miss The Danish Railway Museum with trains and ferries from the last 150 years.
In Kerteminde, 20 km north-east of Odense, small whales and other marine animals splash around in the Fjord & Belt Centre – Go Underwater.
The iron-age village in the suburb of Næsby reconstructs the historic atmosphere and the houses are active workshops for ancient arts and crafts.
Or you could try the Børnebyen children’s city in Vollsmose. Here children can play and pet the animals.
“The Lion’s Den” is an indoor playground for children up to 11 and has slides which drop the children into ball pools.
A more seasonal attraction which should be mentioned is the “Sensory Exhibition” every spring in Brandts. Then there is the outdoor ice-skating rink in winter on Gråbrødre Plads.
