Hints to Your Golf Holiday

Treat yourself to a golfing holiday in Denmark. More and more tourist offices, hotels and inns now offer popular, all-inclusive golfing packages. The green-fee is prepaid and, after 18 holes at one of the local golf courses, a delicious 3-course meal and comfortable bed awaits you. You needn’t be a scratch golfer nor kitted out with all the gear. All that you need is available to hire and the skills come in no time after a few lessons from the pro. Come as you are and be pampered to a tee!

The gently undlating Danish countryside provides ideal conditions for golfplaying. Approx. 140 golf courses are situated at regular intervals all over the country, often in the vicinity of a major town and usually in beautifull and recreational surroundings. This is of some importance if only one member of the family plays golf in as much as this offers the rest of the family the opportunity of doing some nearby sightseeing or of relaxing in one way or another near forests and beaches.

A holiday home is a fine basis for a golf holiday in Denmark. In addition to that quite a number of golf courses have an agreement with one or several hotels in their area, and some of the arrangements include green fee. If you yourself are in charge of the accommodation arangements, you will find that green fees are reasonable, for instance approx. DKK 180 on workdays and DKK 300 during weekends.
The Danish golf courses offer various degress of difficulty, but all are of good standard, with ample space. The courses near the big cities are very popular during weekends and holidays, so you may experience some delay in playing.

Foreign visitors are welcome at Danish golf coubs, the only requirement is that you have a valid membership card from the Danish Golf Union. Green fees are reasonable: weekdays approx. DKK 180, weekends approx. DKK 300. Some clubs operate with handicap limits. It is always advisable to contact the
trainer or office of the club in question. Regarding facilities at Danish golf courses, most Danish golf clubs have well-equipped club houses with changing rooms and showers, common room and pro-shop. Many also have a restaurant or cafeteria of its own.
The golf season is long in Denmark, and you can often play at any time of the year. Generally speaking, winter greens are only open during the period November - April.
