Helm Polde - Toftlund

Helm Polde is a 40 ha flysand area in the southern part of Hønning Plantage with islands of old flysand. A distinctive nature surrounded by plantations to the north and intensively cultivated fields to the south.

Heather and heather make up the distinctive stands in this protected and otherwise treeless area.

From the nearby, state-owned Hønning Plantage, you may be lucky enough to see deer wandering out onto Helm Polde. There are several relatively rare birds in this area that play along with the plantation and Henning Mose. The crane has stayed here during the breeding season, and the red-backed thornbush is also seen. The wasp nests in the plantation.
