The Nørlund Forest is located approx. 10 km south of Ikast. Together with Harrild Heath it makes up an approx. 30 km2 large area of a hill island.
The forest was created by blowing sand and has since been ravaged by blowing sand, but by creation of dune dikes, the historic Blowing Sand was stopped in 1790s. Tree seed was sown in 1810 after 1877 major tree plantings took place, and when the government purchased the plantation in 1883.
To day the forest and the Harrild Heath are perfect for hikes.
