The Danish Foreign Ministry, responsible for the organization of the 2012 European Union Presidency, today announced the compliance of their event management system against the new ISO 20121 standard for sustainable event management. Externally verified by the global certification company SGS, this is the world’s first ISO20121 certification of a large international government event. The Ministry’s event management system covers the logistical organisation of 110 meetings, attracting 15000 attendees at three venues between January and June, 2012.

Leaders from the Danish Meetings Industry collaborate with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to deliver sustainable events for the 2012 EU Presidency. The collaboration targets certification to the ISO20121 event sustainability certification of the Government event management system. An innovative web resource www.sustainableeventsdenmark.org is explaining the enterprising initiative in more detail.

Their Royal Highnesses will be official guests of Her Majesty Queen Margrethe of Denmark and The Prince Consort from 24 – 28 March, during which time they will visit Kronborg Castle. The Prince and The Duchess will see a Hamlet workshop involving young people from youth theatre group Ragnarock. The workshop will be organised by HamletScenen in partnership with the Royal Shakespeare Company and will take place on 26 March.
