Last night, the EU2012 Logistics Team and its Danish Sustainable Events Initiative (DSEI) partners collected the GMIC/IMEX Green Meetings Award 2013. It is the second time in three years that the Danes take home the prestigious award given in recognition of their focused and innovative sustainability achievements in the meetings industry.

Copenhagen has long been known abroad as one of the world's leading cities for sustainable meetings. And now an ambitious Sustainable Meetings Accord between the five Nordic countries got a further boost at IMEX as more key players within the Nordic Meetings Industry signed up during the Scandinavian ICCA Chapter Mid-Year Meeting on 21st May in Frankfurt. 

Copenhagen is a really green city! It's been voted Europe's Green Capital for 2014 by the European Environment Commission. So this is one place you can visit and leave with a clean conscience, as well as a smile!

Copenhagen is known as the ‘Capital of Sustainable Meetings’, not only due to its impressive range of eco-certified hotels and venues, COP15 back in 2009 and the ISO-20121 certification of the Dansih EU Presidency this year - but because of the city’s green profile on the whole.

Copenhagen has been awarded the EU Commission’s prestigious European Green Capital Award for 2014.

The Winter Jazz Festival (or in Danish: Vinterjazz) is set to sweep all over Denmark for the 13th time on February 1-17, 2013. Vinterjazz is once more pushing its boundaries further with a record breaking number of concerts totaling approximately 300 concerts all over Denmark. The ECONOMIST: Denmark no. 1 in attracting talent in Europe 

The Danish EU Presidency (EU2012) will have an estimated cost of 35 million Euros. This is less than 1/3 of the costs of the previous Polish EU presidency, which amounted to 115 million Euros. These savings are achieved by choosing partners who are focused on cost savings - and on sustainability.

The Danish Foreign Ministry, responsible for the organization of the 2012 European Union Presidency, today announced the compliance of their event management system against the new ISO 20121 standard for sustainable event management. Externally verified by the global certification company SGS, this is the world’s first ISO20121 certification of a large international government event. The Ministry’s event management system covers the logistical organisation of 110 meetings, attracting 15000 attendees at three venues between January and June, 2012.
