Journalists flew in from all across Europe from 14-15 September for the launch, which took place at the Danish Design centre (DDC) in Copenhagen. On top of the exhibition itself, the journalists went on a Design Tour and a Life Tour around the city.
The Design Tour gave the delegates an opportunity to take a closer look at impressive Danish architecture such as the new Opera House, the Royal library (also called “the Black Diamond”) and the Holmen area, which is the old naval base.
On the Life Tour, the journalists went by foot through some of the quirkier parts of Copenhagen. Here the focus was on the narrow streets around the main shopping street where design shops, second hand shops and fashion boutiques make up the Latin Quarter. The tour ended up at the more traditional Nyhavn area.
In the evening there was a gala dinner at Marketenderiet, where all the photos from the afternoon’s sightseeing trip had been made into montages and some even projected onto the wall when guests arrived for this stylish event. After the gala dinner everybody went back to Skt Petri, the city’s newest 5-star hotel. With its stylish interior and design, the hotel was another important part of the whole experience, and everybody partied late into the night, dancing to the music provided by a world-renowned DJ.
