InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), the owner of the Crowne Plaza brand, has just announced the signing of a franchise agreement with CPH Hotel Management A/S in Copenhagen, Denmark, for a new Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers.
The new-build hotel will open in late summer 2009, comprising 365 guest rooms. This will include four Suites and 39 Club Rooms, all offering the high levels of comfort, service and amenities expected from the Crowne Plaza brand. The hotel will also feature a restaurant plus a contemporary bar and lounge. Designed with the needs of the business traveller in mind as well, the 3,000m² conference and events centre offers 20 meeting rooms, the largest of which can accommodate up to 800 delegates.

Situated a short Metro-ride away from down-town Copenhagen in the new Ørestad City, and with Copenhagen International Airport within easy reach, the new Crowne Plaza benefits from a prime location. Furthermore, given the proximity of Scandinavia's largest shopping centre - Fields - just across the street - and the new PGA level Royal Golf Course only five minutes away, the Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers is expected to appeal to both leisure and business travellers alike. The Crowne Plaza property is an integrated part of the 130,000m² commercial development Copenhagen Towers, developed by Sjaelsoe Gruppen, one of Scandinavia's largest property developers. The new hotel will be located in one of the two eye-catching 80 metre high towers of the construction designed by world-famous architects Foster + Partners in conjunction with Danish architects Dissing + Weitling. The building itself is expected to become a landmark in the Copenhagen/Oresund Region and ready well in advance of the UN Climate Summit taking place in Copenhagen in November the same year.
