Citizen Involvement - Influencing the Decision Making Process

Visit Programme

The delegates will visit a city hall in the GreenBelt area, where they will get an introduction to the policy issues affecting senior citizens. Additionally, they will get the chance to talk to a memner of a senior council.

Senior councils consists of a number of publicly elected people above the age of 60. The purpose of such councils is to function as think-tanks and give the city councils ideas for initiatives on the senior citizen area.

Duration of visit:

Approx. 1.5 hours

Outcome

Upon visiting the city hall, attending the lecture, participating in hte following discussion session and meetingone or more of the members of the senior council, the delegates should gain insight into the current Danish policy on senior citizens and how senior citizens influences this policy.
N.B. It is also possible to make a similar arrangement with a disability council in the GreenBelt area. The aim of these councils is to help make the cities accessible the the disabled.
