During the last 25 years, Denmark has invested extensively in an effective wastewater systembased on sewers and wastewater treatment, at treatment plants. As a result of this, wastewater treatment has become progressively more advanced. Nowadays, no wastewater is discharged untreated, and 87% of wastewater is treated at the most advanced treatment plants. several of these are situated in the GreenBelt area.
It is the municipalities that are responsbile for, amoung other things, regularly control of both drinking-water and wastewater quality, and for monitoring the performance of teh wastewater treatment plants and the sewer systems.

Therefore Greenbelt Denmark will give the delegates the opportunity to visit a city hall in the GreenBelt area, where they will get an introduction to water and wastewater management. subsequently, they will visit a municipal wastewater treatment plant. Here, the delegates will meet the manager, get an on-site guided tour of the plant, and get a general introduction to wastewater treatment.

Approx. 3 hours
