Renewable Energy - Wind Energy

Visit Programme

Denmark is the undisputed leader in wind energy - a fact that is visually demonstrated by the vast number of wind turbines that dot the danish countryside like gigantic pinwheels.

Approximately three-quarters of these turbines are located in, or very close to, the GreenBelt area. Thsi particular area of Jutland, therefore, contains the largest concentration of wind turbines in Denmark. The GreenBelt area is not only home to a vast number of wind farms, but also to the world's largest supplier of wind power systems, Vestas Wind Systems A/S and Siemens Wind Power.

GreenBelt Denmark will give the delegates the chance to visit large of small scale wind farms in the area. here, they will get a guided tour of the premises and get an in-depth introduction to wind energy. If weather conditions allow it, it may also be possible to climb the wind turbine tower to the viewing platform a the top.

Duration of visit:

Approx. 1.5 hours

Outcome

Upon visiting the wind farms, attending the lecture and participating in the following discussion session, the delegates should gain insigth into the ways in which wind energy may be explored, and learn from the Danish experiences.
N.B. Depending on the date, the number of participants etc. it may also be possible to replace and/or lsupplement the visit to the wind farms with a visit to Vestas Wind Systems A/S or Siemens Wind Power.
