It is very few metropolitan cities in the world that can match Copenhagen's consumption of organic foods. The private sector's purchase of organic products in Copenhagen is 23%, while 51% of all food consumed in the city's public institutions is organic, which is a world record.
As a way to ensure that Copenhagen will continue the development of its consumption of organic products, the environmental strategy "Environment Metropolis - Our Vision 2015" has set targets for up to 90% by 2015 in all of the city's institutions.
In Denmark there are also the Swan- and the Flower logo which ensures the consumer that a product is manufactured with the least possible impact on the environment, and that it does not contain toxic ingredients. To read more about all official green logos used in Denmark click here.
