Owners Rikke Malling and Thorsten Schmidt’s restaurant puts not just Copenhagen, but also Aarhus, 2nd largest city in Denmark, on the world’s culinary map! In fact, gourmet lovers say, that if the Michelin Guide would visit some of the many superb restaurants outside of the Danish capital, these guys, would definitely have been awarded a star too!

Nature’s choice
Malling & Schmidt strive to take its guests on a voyage of discovery to the distinctive features of regional Nordic landscapes and the unique produce and ingredients found there. The owners seek out local environments – vast forests, fields, lakes and seas – in their endeavours to discover the taste and fragrance of Denmark and convey these sensory impressions to their patrons through innovative dishes. Thorsten Schmidt, who is responsible for the cuisine, approaches his task with something almost resembling scientific curiosity. He is known for scrutinising the true Nordic spirit to create unprecedented dining experiences by providing food of high technical calibre and serves his patrons dishes striving to reflect the moods, the variation of the light and flavours of Denmark, giving the guests an intimate culinary view of the region they are in: East Jutland.

Like Danish Design at its best, Schmidt’s creations are the result of a passion for perfection allied to a love of culinary simplicity. The restaurant has a capacity of up to 70 persons, but Malling & Schmidt now also offer four meetings rooms located on the top floor of their stylish villa - all with sea views too.
