The Little Mermaid is off to Shanghai. A copy chills out in Tivoli.

The Little Mermaid
Tivoli entrance in Copenhagen
Whilst the original Little Mermaid sculpture is heading off in April 2010 to take part in the World EXPO in Shanghai, China, visitors to Copenhagen will still be able to get a glimpse of Denmark’s perhaps best known sight too. Thus, an original sister to the world famous sculpture will be sitting in the Tivoli Lake in the famous old amusement park Tivoli Gardens until the end of the Danish autumn holidays in week 42.

It is the descendants of Mr. Edvard Eriksen, the sculptor of the world famous attraction, who have made a personal family copy of the Little Mermaid available for visitors to Tivoli. This way, everyone interested in seeing Hans Christian Andersen’s
famous little fairy-tale mermaid in Copenhagen can still do so, whilst the original is off on an adventurous trip to China.

However, not only is Tivoli showcasing The Little Mermaid in 2010, it also happens to offer a very good range of meeting and conference facilities and an excellent selection of restaurants and eateries – from low-key takeaway stalls to Michelin restaurants.

As part of a strategic co-operation between Tivoli and the Danish hotel group Arp-Hansen, Tivoli is also involved in two major developments with interest for the meetings industry: The construction of the 3-star “Tivoli Hotel” scheduled to open in summer 2010 and with a capacity of 400 rooms - AND the new “Tivoli Congress Centre” scheduled to open in late 2010 and with a capacity of up to 4,000 persons.
Tivoli Wind Mill at Avedøre
Tivoli needs 8.5 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year and gets this from wind power made by "The Tivoli Wind Turbine" - one of the large wind turbines at the Avedøre Power Station nearby.

Tivoli is also a member of the City of Copenhagen's “KLIMA+ network” which provides inspiration and shares knowledge with other companies in order to continue to reduce energy consumption.
