Copenhagen mapping out its Green highlights

Copenhagen is a frontrunner when it comes to green initiatives. According to the city’s climate strategy Copenhagen is to be the world's first CO2 neutral capital by 2025 and this has the full support of the Copenhageners as a green vibe flows through every corner of the city.

Copenhagen is ideal for exploring on foot and on bicycle and for winding down in a pleasant bar along the historic quaysides that have played a key role in the rejuvenation of the city. The newly launched Go Green Copenhagen-map is the ideal way to discover the city’s sustainable restaurants, hotels and businesses – as well as plenty of green experiences.

Strict Criteria
The criteria for being included in the guide are strict. All companies mentioned must make it visible to customers why they are included and what areas they emphasise in their Green profile. Whether it’s selling or using organic products or donating the profit to charity. To be accepted in GoGreen Copenhagen’s Network the organisation must live up to the criteria in at least one of these three areas: PRODUCTS, OPERATION or SOCIAL, e.g.:

• At least 60 % eco-label or fair-trade products
• 60 %-100 % organic foods based on either weight or sales
• Green Salon label (especially for hairdressers)
• Employment of marginalised groups; disabled etc. (about 60 %)
• 100 % surplus donated to charity

Find the Green in Copenhagen
With this map, printed on eco-friendly stone-paper, it’s made easy for you to stay healthy, “green” and environmentally conscious throughout your stay in Copenhagen. Pick it up in Copenhagen’s Nørreport or Østerport station, one of 200 cafés across Copenhagen or one of the businesses on the map. Download it at Go Green Copenhagen’s website or visit Go Green Copenhagen’s Facebook-page for the latest updates. The map will soon grow into a web portal and a mobile app, making it even easier to search out the green high-lights of the Danish Capital.
