Denmark has many holiday centres where you can book an apartment or a house. The centres have great facilities for children and adults alike. Although the accommodation is fully equipped for a self-catering holiday, there is also a café or restaurant, so do you not have to cook every day!

A farm-house stay is a great family holiday. Your kids will love getting close to the animals and, should you wish, you might even be able to help out around the farm! You can choose to stay on the same farm for several nights, or stay at several different farm as you explore the country.

Denmark’s camp-sites have excellent facilities and a friendly atmosphere. A camping holiday is a popular holiday choice with many Danish families, so there will often be other children to play with – and children usually manage to communicate with each other across the language barrier.

Danish youth and family hostels are a great choice when travelling on a budget, and many have family rooms. Called DANHOSTELS, there are five categories from modest 1-star that fulfil the minimum requirements to 5-star hostels, where all rooms have private shower & w.c. and good facilities.
There are several DANHOSTELS in the greater Copenhagen area, and when staying at the DANHOSTEL Copenhagen City, guests are currently entitled to some discounts at nearby DGI-byen with its excellent facilties, such as swimming baths, spa, café etc.

Cottages and accommodation at holiday centres are based on weekly rental, though outside the high season (school holidays) it may be possible to rent for a shorter period. The other types of accommodation can be booked for short or long stays, which make them idea for a touring holiday, and you can of course also combine the different types.
Prices for many types of accommodation may be higher during the high season.

Most of Denmark’s many hotels and inns are also happy to welcome families, and it is worth checking for any special rate for children, particularly when sharing a room with two adults.
