Christmas market in Aalborg

Aalborg City invites you to celebrate Christmas time in Aalborg

Christmas in Aalborg starts 24 November when Santa Claus arrives from Greenland by boat to Honnorkajen at 11am.

After this event, activities for the whole family continue everyday until Christmas Eve.

At The Old Square you can enjoy the Christmas Market with cosy stalls and tents with local specialities like æbleskiver, pepper cookies, Glög - hot mulled red wine - and even Greenlandic ice! Santa's helpers are everywhere to help Santa Claus create that special magical Christmas atmosphere. Children can visit Santa Claus and try the entertaining horse carousel. Or they can take their parents by the hand and have fun on the ice rink at C.W. Obels Square.

And why not do your Christmas shopping in the cosy city centre of Aalborg? You won’t have trouble finding presents for your loved ones.
You will find all the international design icons but cheaper than in the UK.

Friday 30 November is Christmas Shopping Night in the city of Aalborg and all the shops are open until 10pm giving you plenty of time to shop the night away.

After an exciting day of sightseeing and shopping it is time to relax over a nice dinner in one of the many gourmet restaurants in Aalborg. Try the classic Danish open sandwiches or the hearty Christmas buffet in fantastic settings at Duus Vinkælder or go for classic Danish meals and locally brewed beer in the stylish restaurant and micro brewery of Søgaards Bryghus. Are you more into the international gourmet cuisine try Aalborg’s most famous restaurant, Mortens Kro. If a light tapas menu is more you, don’t miss Café Pingvin right in the heart of Aalborg.
