Facts about LEGOLAND®

LEGO® was founded by Ole Kirk Christiansen in 1934. The name comes from the Danish words "Leg godt", meaning "Play well".
In 1968 the idea of making a permanent exhibition of LEGO models was hit upon and the first LEGOLAND opened in Billund, Denmark.
In 1992 Windsor Safari Park went into receivership and four years later in 1996 LEGOLAND Windsor opened on the site, using 25 million LEGO bricks.
Since the opening of LEGOLAND Windsor, LEGOLAND California opened in 1999 and more recently LEGOLAND Deutschland opened in 2002.

The Land of the Vikings opened up in August 2007 with Denmark as the main sponsor
The Viking's River Splash is its main attraction and the biggest ride in LEGOLAND Windsor
Another attraction is the Nordic-themed hedge maze where you try to unravel the mystery of Loki’s Labyrinth
The Longboat Invader opened at the start of the season 2008.
