Aalborg is situated in North Jutland, south of Limfjorden. Just north of Aalborg is Nørresundby, and these twinned North Jutland cities, connected by bridge and tunnel are perfect for a city break.
Aalborg is home to the beautiful North Jutland Art Museum, designed by the renowned Finnish architect Alvar Aalto and the natural power house for modern art throughout the region. The city has several theatre venues, and the Aalborg Congress & Culture Centre is a life nerve for North Jutland's music and theatre scenes: each year it puts on more than 150 events in the shape of opera, musicals and exhibitions, etc.

A stroll through the pedestrian precincts of Aalborg's old city centre will take you to Jens Bangs Stenhus, one of Europe's largest town houses of the Renaissance period, and to Obels Plads, a square transformed in winter into the city's ice rink. Then there are of course the galleries, shops and the legendary Jomfru Ane Street, Denmark's longest entertainment strip, with restaurants, bars, clubs and live-music cafés.
