When planning a visit to Denmark, it may be useful to know when the Danes themselves take their holiday.

School summer holidays in Denmark are slightly earlier than those in the UK. In 2006 the schools close on Friday 23 June and open again on Monday 14 Aug.

In addition to the Easter holiday the schools are also closed for a week’s winter holiday in February/March and for an autumn break in mid-October.

’Industrial’ Holidays

Although there is no official ’industrial’ holiday period in Denmark, a relatively large proportion of Denmark’s industries and other companies traditionally close the first three weeks of July.
