Congress Guarantee SchemeGuarantee for congress pre-financing International congresses are important for the internationalisation of the Danish research environment and business community, and so some of the main congress partners have established a joint guarantee scheme for the pre-financing of congresses, aimed at event organisers for international congresses, and co-funded by the National Business and Housing Agency. The guarantee is supplied in the form of security for a loan to cover the costs of pre-financing the congress, including marketing expenses. Guarantees are issued only to international, non-commercial congresses – i.e. meetings related to science or research – to be held in Denmark. Application forms and further information are available from Wonderful Copenhagen, Fyntour, VisitAarhus and Aalborg Tourist and Convention Bureau

SAS Scandinavian Airlines -Star Alliance Convention PlusSAS is the obvious choice of international airline partner to meet the travel needs of your congress participants. SAS is Scandinavia’s largest airline, and a member of the Star AllianceTM network.

Once you have decided to hold your congress in Denmark, SAS can offer you an “Official Airline” agreement for the event which will include a conference discount on flights with airlines in the SAS group* for foreign participants and their companions. For large congresses, SAS can moreover support the congress host with a pre-arranged sum for air tickets, which could for example be used to invite guest speakers. In return, SAS must be named as Official Airline in the printed invitation material, and Internet advertising for the congress must include a link to the SAS website. SAS can also help to market the congress, for example through direct mail, if the congress host can supply the addresses of key foreign contacts and potential participants. Star Alliance Conventions Plus If the congress has more than 1,000 participants from both Europe and another continent, an Official Airline agreement can be drawn up that includes all of the partners in the Star Alliance network**. Congress participants can thus be offered a conference discount on flights in the entire Star Alliance route network – which means that an offer can be made to all participants from all over the world, almost irrespective of where they are coming from. * The SAS group encompasses: SAS, SASBraathens, Widerøe, Blue1, AirBaltic and Spanair ** The Star Alliance network encompasses: Air Canada, Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana, Austrian Airlines, bmi, LOT, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines (incl. SASBraathens and Blue1), Singapore Airlines, TAP, THAI, United, US Airways and VARIG. Read more about Star Alliance Plus
