Danish hotels with a difference

Staying in holiday accommodation that is fun and different often ends op being one of the best experiences of the holiday, and one that you remember. Here are a few suggestions…

Copenhagen’s first floating hotel, ”CPH LIVING”, opens it doors during summer 2008. The harbour location means that it is right in the centre, and you get an exquisite view of the city. You are close to all experiences while being able to relax by the water – something only few big cities can offer.

In Denmark’s oldest town, Ribe, you can spend one or more nights in jail completely by your own choice. Here, they have converted the old prison into a hotel which certainly stands out. From behind bars there is a nice view of Ribe's only inhabited stork's nest and the old town centre, and the hotel has a wonderful courtyard garden. If walls could talk...

Denmark's last lightship, Fyrskib XXI, moored for the last time – following major restorations – in 2006 in the frigate harbour of Ebeltoft, where you also find the impressive frigate Fregatten Jylland. The lightship was built in 1911 and has for many years thrown light over Denmark's coasts. Here, you can let yourself be lulled to sleep to the lapping of the waves and wake up to the cries of the seagulls. When you disembark, you have the lovely town of Ebeltoft with the Glass museum and much more on offer within close distance. www.fregatten-jylland.dk
