Danish Cultural History Denmark has approximately 450 inns of which 113 are Royal Licence Inns dating back to the period 1650-1850. The travel inns attribute to Danish cultural history with each their own unique history. Common to most of the inns is that they form part of a culture historic infrastructure and many trace their roots back to the Renaissance - a few even date back to early medieval times.
The inns are typically situated along former main thoroughfares, harbors and crossings, adjacent to e.g. mills, or near castles and manor houses as well as close to bridges, forts and custom houses.
