With its central location in Northern Europe, Denmark is easy to get to – no matter where you are coming from. Denmark is a small country and thanks to its efficient infrastructure, getting around within Denmark is also fast and easy.

Copenhagen is the cruise Gateway to the Baltic and the Norwegian Fjords. In addition to being a wonderful cruise port, it is the perfect starting point for visits to other Northern European destinations such as St. Petersburg, Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallinn, Oslo and Bergen. Air
Scandinavian Airlines is the flag carrier to Denmark, and Copenhagen Airport is one of its principal hubs. By rail, transfer time from the airport to the Copenhagen’s central railway station is 12 minutes. This makes it the fastest metropolitan rail link in Europe. From Copenhagen Central Station, you can catch easy DSB rail connections to Aarhus, Bornholm, and other destinations in Denmark and beyond.

Car
By car, the ride from the airport to the Copenhagen city center takes around 25 minutes and nearby destinations can easily explored at your own leisurely pace. The Øresund Bridge between Copenhagen and Malmö, regional capital of southern Sweden, has made it possible to drive from Copenhagen to southern Sweden in only 35 minutes!
Aarhus Airport situated 35km from Aarhus has 12 daily departures to and from Copenhagen. There are DSB Intercity trains/express trains between Aarhus/Copenhagen every hour and the express ferry shuttle between Aarhus/Odden has 5 departures in both directions round the clock. Aarhus is closely skirted by the northbound motorways to, e.g. Frederikshavn, from where you can travel on by ferry to Norway and Sweden, or travel south to continental Europe or east to Copenhagen/Sweden. The international car rental firms are represented in Aarhus, along with limousine-hire services.
Not all roads lead to Aalborg – but almost. Good connections by air, rail, road and ferry make travelling to Aalborg easy both within Denmark and from abroad. There are frequent daily flight connections from Copenhagen, and when you land at Aalborg Airport there is just 7km to the city centre, where most of the hotels and also Aalborg Congress & Culture Centre are situated.

For those travelling by rail with DSB there are Intercity train connections from Copenhagen and Aalborg every hour, and from Norway and Sweden there are ferry connections to the Danish ports of Hirtshals, Hanstholm and Frederikshavn, all of which are approx. 1 hour’s drive away from Aalborg. For those travelling to Aalborg from the south, there is just 275km along the motorway from the Danish-German border.
The Skaw can be reached by both bus and train. “Skagensbanen” (The Skaw Line) runs between Frederikshavn and the Skaw every hour. In the direction of Frederikshavn, there are DSB rail connections from Copenhagen every hour. Frederikshavn is also a hub in North Jutland for the Stena Lines ferry connections to and from Gothenburg in Sweden and Oslo in Norway. If travelling by car from the south, you can take the motorway to Frederikshavn and then take the main road for the last stretch to the Skaw.
The quickest and most comfortable way of getting to Svendborg is either by car or by DSB rail connections from Odense. There are trains between Copenhagen and Odense twice every hour. South Funen and its islands should be explored by car, as the area is ideal for car touring holidays. Funen has several international car rental firms.
In the last few years the journey time from Copenhagen to the island of Bornholm has been halved thanks to the Øresund Bridge and the new catamaran service from Ystad in Sweden to Rønne, Bornholm. Nowadays the total journey takes no more than just under three hours. Alternatively, there are up to 4 daily departures from Copenhagen Central Station by train and coach, both of which offer direct connections with the catamaran to Rønne.

No matter whether you go for the train or coach, it takes just under three hours from Copenhagen to Rønne. If you want to cut down the journey time even further, there are up to 6 daily flights from Copenhagen with Maersk Air. The flight takes just 35 minutes. On Bornholm there are several international car rental firms for those wishing to rent their own wheels.
