Faaborg
The town of Faaborg is well worth a visit, with numerous specialty shops along the narrow alleyways and charming streets. The town is situated by the water and offers delightful views of the South Funen Archipelago. In Faaborg, you will find many exciting places to eat - from cosy town restaurants to castle and manor restaurants situated in historic surroundings. The focus of the menu is fresh produce and quality is of main importance.

To many people, Faaborg with its narrow alleyways and cosy streets is like taking a relaxing step back in time. In the evenings, it is even possible to listen to the local watchmen singing and telling tales and stories from the old days when they do their rounds.

Steensgaard farm shop

The manor estate's Jersey heard daily produces milk for the manor's own dairy which produces butter, cheese and other dairy products in accordance with good old craftmanship traditions. The produce is available from the farm shop along with Jersey veal, specialty beer from Funen, etc. You can also get a tour of the stables. Read more about Steensgaard farm shop

Local specialities

South Funen is teeming with local specialities such as cheeses, beer, chocolate, honey, apple juice and fish/meat. Visit some of the many farm shops and see what is on offer.

Sinai Farm Dairy

The cheese from this diary is proper South Funen quality, and it is known, among other things, for Svendbo cheese, feta and not least smoked cheese which is only produced during summer. The smoked cheese is served on a slice of rye bread or white bread with chives and fresh radish. Visit the dairy and experience the lovely cheeses. Read more here

The South Funen Archipelago

The South Funen Archipelago provides the perfect surroundings for a beautiful and eventful holiday; whether you like lively harbours, small humble fishing villages, nature or cultural experiences. There are plenty of options; visit e.g. one of the islands of Bjørnø, Lyø or Avernakø. Read more here

Angling and sea trout

The South Funen area is famous for its excellent angling conditions amongst anglers. Funen is with its almost 1100 kilometres of coast a paradise for anglers. Especially the sea trout has benefited from the fact that since 1989, many of the barriers that prevented the sea trout from entering the steams to pour have been removed.
