Survey: Denmark happiest country in the world
If you want to visit a magic kingdom and soak in the atmosphere of the happiest place on Earth, you might want to schedule your vacation accordingly.
“Over the past 30 years, in survey after survey, this nation of five and a half million people, the land that produced Hans Christian Andersen, the people who consume herring by the ton, consistently beat the rest of the world in the happiness stakes,” said correspondent Morley Safer in a Feb. 17 CBS News 60 Minutes story highlighting Denmark. ABC News 20/20 also reported on the phenomena, saying the Danes feel "tryghed" – the Danish word for "tucked in" – like a snug child. The news were also reported by the Today Show at MSNBC (click here to watch video).
In August, Scott Vogel at the Washington Post explored the reasons for the happiness of the Danes in his feature article "Why Are the Danes So Happy? It's the Simple Things".
