The approved camping sites are classified by the Danish Camping Board, which lists representatives from a number of camping and tourist organisations. The expert advisers of the Camping Board report unannounced on every site once a year, and the quality is rated by means of 1, 2 3, 4 or 5 stars:

Fulfilling statutory minimum requirements: The site is inspected daily. Noticeboard at the reception with site information. Access to telephone, sanitary installations, toilets, sinks and showers with hot and cold water. Some sites have kitchen facilities.

Also fulfilling: Kitchen and laundering facilities with hot water are available, shower rooms, playground with tools, and the site (depending on local conditions) must be fenced and have a permanent supervision from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m in the peak season. Midday closing for twohours between 12 and 3 p.m. may occur. The camp warden and his deputy have attended a fire course approved by the Danish Camping Board besides a 12-hour standard first-aid course. Noticeboard on the site displays general information and tourist information. A telephone is available day and night. There is a grocery shop within a 2 km distance. Minimum a quarter of the pitches have electric hook-up points.

Also fulfilling: Qualified supervision on the site day and night. The entrance is closed with a bar, chain or gate between 11 pm. and 7 am. The reception has brochures and information about the region, telephone box available for use day and night. Shopping within maximum 1 km distance, kitchen facilities, nursing rooms for babies, sink(s) for laundry, washing machine and tumbler. Shower rooms with hot water. 70% of the site pitches have electric hook-up points. Playgrounds for children corresponding to activities offered on site.

Fulfills highest demands regarding installations, buildings, supervision, etc. Office open from 8 am to 10 pm during the period 20th June to 15th August, and the site shop is open during the same time and period. There is a playground and ball game area, as well as common room with TV, sanitary room for disabled with own entrance, washing machine and tumbler, separate tent pitch area, bicycle racks, and cycle repair places. A site with 4 stars in addition has a number of excellent facilities, a lot of activities on the site and scenic surroundings. More than 80% of the pitches have electric hook-up points and a minor part of these pitches also have discharge facilities.

Means that the site is exceptional as far as facilities, surroundings and activities on the site are concerned. The sites have a large office, open from 8 am to 10 pm in the period 20th June to 15th August, a large store, separate toilet and shower buildings, hairdresser's, indoor dining room adjacent to one of the kitchens, several playgrounds and commom room with TV. The majority of the site pitches have electric hook-up points and a quarter of these pitches also have discharge facilities.

In addition to the standard requirements of the approved sites in the 3 first categories, the sites often have other facilities, such as swimming pool, cafeteria, common room with TV, and various activities. Camping with 2 or more stars have special service facilities for mobile homes for disposal of rubbish and emptying of waste water and chemical toilet tanks, and for refilling the water tanks of the mobile home.
