At the forest plantations of Klosterhede, Blåbjerg and Oksbøl, you can walk, cycle and encounter extraordinary wildlife, such as beavers and Denmark’s largest red deer herd. Beavers were hunted to extinction in Denmark around a thousand years ago, but successfully reintroduced into the wild a few years back.
On the small tongue of land known as Holmsland Dune (Holmsland Klit), you can walk along endless beach and protected natural areas. The River Skjern (Skjern Å) and the unique areas surrounding it, are great spots to see otters. For anglers, you can try your luck catching salmon here.
