On the Hindsholm peninsula you will find the organic farm Stålbækgård and Benji’s Burgers. On the farm, Jersey cows walk around, living the good life. The Jersey bulls come to the farm as calves, where they are cared for, and given the opportunity to frolic in the scenic surroundings. The calves have been adopted from organic milk production where they have had no value. On the farm there are also a couple of retired dairy cows who take care of their own and the adopted calves. Here the animals get the peace and time it takes to grow big. Jersey cows are not referred to as beef cattle, as they are a small breed that takes a long time to become meaty. On the farm we have plenty of time, and with lots of time and love, the meat becomes tender, juicy, and tasty. On the farm you can buy the farmed meat in various cuts, in the farm shop or in a Benji’s burger.
Honey, how about opening a burger bar during the holidays?
Stålbækgård is a more than 200-year-old farm, which the Danish-English couple Louise and Benjamin took over in 2013. They are responsible for both agricultures, the farm shop, and the restaurant. Benjamin also runs Restaurant Duck n Fries in Odense, where he serves duck burgers, among other things. The idea of opening a burger restaurant on the farm was an impulsive idea that Louise thought she could do during her summer holiday in 2020, now that the holiday to France had been canceled due to the Covid 19 situation. They placed a few tables in the farm shop, and 4 seats quickly became 20, and from there their private terrace was also taken into use, due to the great popularity. They therefore decided to continue the burger bar after the holidays.
All our burgers are homemade and made with local Funen ingredients. From the organic whole wheat brioche from the Wendorff bakeries in Odense, to the Funen arugula and the homemade vinaigrette pickled red onions, which we get from Syrengården - here we also get our organic potatoes from which we hand cut them for rustic french fries.
