Bangsbo Fort is located immediately south of Pikkerbakken. The area and the canons are located approximately 80m 60m above sea level respectively.
Frederikshavn has often played a significant role regarding wars throughout history. In the area around Niels Juel's canons, it is also possible to find bunkers and one can see cannons from the frigate Niels Juel.
The area is usually a military area. Back then, Bangsbo Fort would monitor activities in northern Kattegat.
During the summer, there is access to the area with Niels Juel’s canons and, at specific times, there are guided tours.
From the fort there is a splendid view over Frederikshavn and Kattegat. When the weather is clear, you can see both Skagen and Læsø
The fort was built by the Germans during World War 2 and was reinforced in 1944 with four 15 cm canons from the artillery ship Niels Juel.
It is possible to visit the exhibition bunkers and experience interactive communication. The facilities feature a cinema, traditional museum communication, interactive communication, special offers for school groups and institutions as well as children bunker with communication targeted at the youngest.

Because Bangsbo Fort lies in a military area, there is no entry for unauthorized persons. Museum guests are welcome to drive right into the area and park at the museum building.If you are not a guest at the museum or MOCN, parking arranged on the edge of the area is to be used. From here you are allowed to move on foot in the area.
