Vejle Windmill is a landmark situated on a hilltop to the south of town. The Vejle Art Society has a gallery in the mill and you can additionally learn more about the history of milling and enjoy sweeping views of Vejle.
The original mill from 1847 was reduced to ashes but was replaced by the current mill building in 1890. The mill interiors are from 1937. The windmill has a grinding loft, rollers, and belt drive and functioned as a working mill until 1960.
At the Vejle Windmill you can experience:
- An exhibition about the mill's history and about milling in the region
- The most scenic view of Vejle, the river valley and the inlet.
- The original and restored interiors with grinders, etc.
Located on the ground floor of the Vejle Windmill, the Vejle Art Society gallery showcases paintings, graphic art, ceramics and other kinds of art by artists from across the country. The windmill is open Tuesday to Sunday 11:00-16:00 between 1 April and 20 October. Outside this period, the windmill is accessible during the opening hours of the Vejle Art Society gallery.
