Kronborg Castle in Elsinore is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the fictional home of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Bristling with cannons, the 400-year-old castle once taxed passing merchant ships.
Elsinore is known for its cobbled streets, boutiques and townhouses. The old town of Elsinore (Helsingør in Danish) offers boutique shopping and heritage museums, including the old chandler’s shop Skibsklarergården, untouched since 1820. The town also has a cathedral and lively old market square.
Maritime Museum of Denmark
The new Maritime Museum of Denmark designed by leading Danish architectural studio BIG, is located in an old dry dock next to Kronborg Castle. Adjacent you find Elsinore’s new culture centre, Kulturværftet, and HAN, a new waterside sculpture of a ‘Merman’.
Louisiana Museum of Modern art
One of Europe’s pioneering modern art museums, Louisiana features permanent collections and changing exhibitions, concerts, and a hands-on children’s art studio. Located by the coastal road.
One of Scandinavia’s finest examples of Dutch Renaissance, the castle is today a museum of national history. The moated castle is romantically surrounded by magnificently manicured formal gardens.
The Deer Park, Jægersborg Dyrehave
A UNESCO World Heritage site, the deer park and its centuries-old oak trees is a popular destination. The grounds are the unlikely home of the world’s oldest amusement park and you can ride through the park in a horse-drawn carriage.
Home to one of Europe’s finest collections of French impressionism, the art museum features an an extension designed by Zaha Hadid and an Art Park with striking artworks by, among others, Olafur Eliasson.

Airport to city: Copenhagen Airport is connected to the city centre (Central Station, Nørreport and Østerport) by regular rail service departing from Terminal 3 every 5-20 min and by metro (to Kongens Nytorv, Nørreport, etc.) departing every 3-7 min (24/7 service).
Travel time: 12 min by regular rail, 14 min by metro.
