Arthurs Xperimentarium

Create, discover and experiment at Arthurs Xperimentarium, located in the maritime and historic setting of Søby harbour. Here you will find a creative space where you can explore art, culture and crafts.

Art, culture and creative workshop in the heart of Søby Harbour

Arthurs Xperimentarium is not just a place – it is an invitation to explore your own abilities and ideas. In a raw and creative setting at Søby Harbour, you will find an experimental workshop where both tourists and locals can express themselves artistically. Everything is driven by cultural desire and creative joy – and you can feel it.

When you step into the building and turn right, a world of possibilities opens up: there is a clay workshop, a welding workshop, a concrete foundry and rooms for changing exhibitions and events. It is a place where you can experience the work of others – and get started on your own.

Creative opportunities for everyone

Whether you are good with your hands or just curious about new forms of expression, there is something for you to try your hand at in the workshop. Paintings, street art and welded iron sculptures. Flower arrangements, musical experiments and performances. And perhaps a taste experience created with essences from the local nature.

Ceramics enthusiasts can look forward to a fully equipped workshop where you can shape, pre-fire and glaze your own ceramic works. You only pay for the materials and electricity you use – the rest is up to your imagination.

History lives on in Arthur's old motor factory

Arthurs Xperimentarium is located in the charming building that once housed Arthur Christian Jørgensen's motor factory – the beginning of what is now Søby Værft (shipyard). Here you will also find the exhibition I Arthurs Fodspor (In Arthur's Footsteps), where you can delve into the story of Arthur's life's work and Søby's maritime development. The authentic surroundings provide a vivid insight into history, and on special days you can join a guided tour by former museum director Karen Margrethe Fabricius.
