The bathing establishment Den Permanente

Den Permanente is one of Aarhus' best and most popular beaches and a sea bath consisting of one large common area with changing rooms, toilets and taps - and not far from the city centre. In the summer, you have access to a completely renovated, but lovely old-fashioned bathing centre.

A beach gem close to the city centre

Den Permanente Badeanstalt is just a short bike ride from Aarhus city centre, and here you can experience one of the city's most beloved beaches. The beach is known for its clean sand and clear water, making it ideal for a dip on hot summer days.

Newly renovated bathing centre

In 2024, Den Permanente offers a newly renovated bathing centre that combines modern facilities with nostalgic charm. Here you'll find changing rooms, showers and other essentials for a comfortable beach day.

Perfect for a day by the sea

Whether you want to swim, sunbathe or just enjoy the view of Aarhus Ø and the city centre, Den Permanente is the place for you. The beach offers tranquil surroundings and is popular with locals and tourists alike.

Winter swimming

During the winter season, which starts on 1 September, Den Permanente is closed to the public and only open to winter swimmers in Vikingeklubben Jomsborg.

Tips for transport to the beach

Cycle along Salonvejen or the cycle path along the beach in the direction of Risskov and you will arrive directly at Den Permanente beach. If you arrive by car, you can park in the car park at Sjette Frederiks Kro.

Practical information

Den Permanente is open from 5 June to the end of August between 06:00 - 19:00.

It is approximately 2.5 km from the centre of Aarhus, and during the school summer holidays TrygFonden lifeguards are on the beach between 10:00 and 18:00.

There are enclosed changing rooms, a kiosk, toilets and taps.

Along the coast north and south of Aarhus you can find some of Denmarks best beaches.
