Glesborg Church
Visit Glesborg Church on Djursland, where Romanesque granite meets late Gothic vaults. Inside the church, you can see 16th-century frescoes, a Romanesque baptismal font and well-preserved Renaissance furnishings.

Romanesque granite and late Gothic additions
Glesborg Church is situated in the centre of Glesborg on Djursland. The church has a Romanesque nave built of granite, whilst the chancel, tower and porch were added in the late Middle Ages. From the outside, the rough granite contrasts with whitewashed walls and red tiled roofs.
Frescoes from the 16th century
On the church’s vaulted ceiling, you can see frescoes dating from the period 1520–1550. The motifs depict, amongst other things, the Creation, the life of Jesus and the Last Judgement, whilst also offering glimpses of everyday life at that time.
Baptismal font and Renaissance furnishings
The Romanesque granite baptismal font is the church’s oldest piece of furniture. The church also houses an altarpiece from 1618, a pulpit from 1617, pews from 1620 and a late Gothic deacon’s chair from around 1550.
