Mural by Don John in Pantheonsgade

Artist Don John has created yet another mural in Odense, this time in Pantheonsgade. The painting is inspired by H.C. Andersen's poem "The Two Birds" from 1833. The poem describes Andersen's unhappy love and the sorrow of being unhappily in love.

The first verse reads as follows:

The two birds

A bird is nesting here deep in my breast
So far from leaves and branches;
It sings in pain and strange desire,
Because it sits so alone.
It only dares to cling to God,
And look out through the window of its eyes!
H.C. Andersen
