A café in an old smokehouse right by the sea

Settle in close to the Baltic Sea at Norresan Gudhjem on Nørresand in Gudhjem. This small café is housed in a former smokehouse by the coast, where the view of Salenebugten, the light and the sunset are as much a part of the experience as what is served at the table.

The building was originally constructed as a salt house for local fishermen and was later turned into a smokehouse. Today, the old smokehouse surroundings provide the setting for a relaxed café, where you can find a seat both indoors and outdoors and watch life by the sea.

Coffee, homemade baking and their own gin

The menu includes coffee, Kalas ice cream, light lunch dishes, homemade baking, homemade lemonades, local beers, wine and drinks. The open-faced potato sandwich with wild garlic pesto has become one of the café’s classics, and Norresan also has its own gin, produced with Bornholm Distillery using herbs and plants from the hosts’ own garden.

On long summer evenings, Norresan is also a place to linger as the sun approaches the horizon. During the season, the café hosts barbecue evenings, communal dinners and silent disco by the water; specific events vary from year to year.

Norresan is also part of Outdoor Friends Bornholm and can provide inspiration for active experiences on the island.
