Orøstrand Dyrepark is located on the cosy island of Orø in the middle of Isefjorden in Holbæk Municipality. The small, charming zoo has been here since 1989 and today is home to more than 55 different animal species and around 550 animals in total.

Here the whole family can get up close to everything from guinea pigs and small kangaroos to monkeys, coatis, crocodiles, camels and ostriches. A huge tiger python is among the more exotic residents, and there is plenty to see whether you are young or old.

The park stretches across a large area of green surroundings, and during the school holidays there are special activities for children, such as pony riding and pancake making. Electric and hybrid cars can be charged in the car park between the zoo and the campsite.

You reach Orø by ferry from Holbæk (about 25 minutes) or from Hammer Bakke (about 6 minutes), so the journey to the zoo becomes a little island adventure in itself.

Read more about the animals, opening hours and prices on the Orøstrand website, and find more experiences on Orø and in West Zealand at Destination Sjælland.
