Salvadparken Shelter Site
In Salvadparken, stream, fjord and open parkland come together in a large public green area by Roskilde Fjord, inviting calm nature experiences and overnight stays in the open air.

Two spacious shelters in an open fjord landscape
Salvadparken Shelter Site is located in a large public green area right by the mouth of Hove Stream in Roskilde Fjord. Here you will find two shelters, each accommodating up to eight people, positioned approximately 100 metres apart, allowing for both shared experiences and privacy. The open surroundings offer plenty of space for play, relaxation and outdoor stays, while the fjord is always close by. Overnight stays of up to two consecutive nights are permitted, and it is also possible to pitch a tent in the area.
An accessible area with special facilities
The northern shelter is designed to be accessible, with a solid path surface from the car park and a ceiling-mounted lift rail that enables assisted transfer into the shelter. However, no hoist or lifting sling is provided on site, so visitors must bring their own equipment. The southern shelter features, among other things, a wind shelter, a small built-in table and a compact outdoor kitchen with worktop and washing-up basin. Salvadparken also offers trail systems, fire pits, a nature playground and fine views across the fjord and its birdlife.
Easy access and flexible booking
The shelters can be booked via Friluftsguiden, but the site is free to use on a first-come, first-served basis, with booking giving priority. Salvadparken’s large car park is located at Frederiksborgvej 501 in Roskilde, from where there is easy access to the shelter site. The area can also be reached on foot or by bicycle, and it is even possible to arrive from the water by kayak or canoe. Dogs are allowed on a lead, and there is no drinking water available on site, so visitors should bring their own.
Fjord life, trails and experiences close by
With Salvadparken as your base, you have easy access to both active experiences and peaceful moments in the open fjord landscape.
- Walking and cycling routes: The Fjord Trail, Regional Route 40, passes directly by on Frederiksborgvej and connects the area with the rest of Roskilde Fjord for both walkers and cyclists. Smaller paths along the water invite short walks with views of the fjord.
- Canoeing and kayaking: Landing is possible at the fjord a few hundred metres from the shelters, and it is possible to paddle directly to the shelter site via Hove Stream.
- Swimming: Small patches of sandy shoreline along the coast are suitable for a refreshing dip on warm days.
- Fishing: South of the mouth of Hove Stream, the area is known as a good fishing spot for trout. Please note the 500-metre protected zone around the stream’s outlet.
Whether you explore the trails, arrive by water along the stream or enjoy the calm by the fjord, Salvadparken Shelter Site offers a varied and nature-rich setting for your stay.
