Award-winning vineyard on Røsnæs near Kalundborg

On the sun-warmed, steep slopes running down to Kalundborg Fjord lies STUB Vingaard – one of the most ambitious vineyards in West Zealand, with a clear aim of capturing the taste of Røsnæs in every single bottle.

The location is no accident. The Røsnæs peninsula is one of the sunniest areas in Denmark, and the combination of mild coastal climate, mineral soil and south-facing fields gives the vines conditions rarely found in Danish wine production. It is these natural advantages that make wines possible whose quality is confirmed year after year with gold medals at major international competitions.

Wines with the character of Røsnæs

STUB Vingaard has planted around 5,500 vines across three selected grape varieties, robust and well suited to the Danish climate. Production focuses on white, rosé and sparkling wine – wines marked by abundant fruit, fresh, lively acidity and a minerality that speaks of the unique soil and the closeness of the sea. The fields are cultivated as naturally as possible, in keeping with the surrounding landscape, and a conscious approach to sustainability runs through the entire process from field to bottle.

For wine lovers it is a striking experience to taste wines so clearly shaped by the place they come from – what the wine world calls terroir.

STUB Vintårn – a wine bar in a century-old water tower

At the top of Tårnbakken rises the more than hundred-year-old water tower, which STUB Vingaard has converted into a wine bar and wine shop. The tower is a remarkable experience in itself – a historic building with an entirely new purpose, where guests can buy wines and enjoy them overlooking the fields, the fjord and the surrounding coastal landscape. On a clear day the view stretches far across Kalundborg Fjord, and the combination of good wine, fresh sea air and the West Zealand coastal light creates an atmosphere that is hard to recreate elsewhere.
