The Little Belt Cycling Route 176 km

A bike ride through historic surroundings

From Middelfart, the route follows the Little Belt, where the landscape still bears the marks of the Ice Age – a route of 103.5 km. The strait winds narrowly between Funen and Jutland, connecting the Baltic Sea with the Kattegat, and along the way the route alternates between coastal stretches and gently hilly terrain with climbs of up to 100 metres.

The route continues over the bridge to Fredericia, past the historic ramparts, and on through beach and hill landscape to Kolding and Koldinghus Castle. The final stop is Christiansfeld, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site – the town’s honey cakes are worth trying here. On the way back you can take a detour past Skamlingsbanken, once a gathering place for public meetings and today a viewpoint over the Little Belt. On a clear day, you can look back across to Funen.
