Visit the popular Allinge harbour, which is beautifully located on the north coast of Bornholm.

Denmark's most beautiful harbour area

In 2021, Allinge harbour was voted "Denmark's Most Beautiful Harbour Area" in a competition held by Historiske Huse. Allinge Harbour was nominated by five experts in the field.

A real Bornholm harbour

Allinge harbour, a real Bornholm harbour, blasted to great water depth when the harbour was, among other things, a car ferry port with a regular route to Sweden, where a former ticket office belonging to the Hurtigruten to Simrishamn now houses the tourist office directly on the quay.

The blasted granite was used to build the solid harbour works, as protection against the up to seven-metre high waves that form on the free stretch over the six hundred kilometres to the Gulf of Finland. In 2006, the harbour was further protected by a jetty. Regardless, it may happen that the outer and inner basins are closed in strong onshore winds.

The harbor is so popular today that despite the fact that it is only used for guest sailors, in the absolute peak season, it may be necessary to use the harbor's black marker ball/three red lights to signal that everything is sold out. Guest sailors are welcome throughout the harbor, which only has a few local boats that happily accept being blocked by guest boats in the peak season.

The harbor's surroundings

Madsebakke rock carvings that can be experienced at the new nature trail connecting Allinge with Hammershus. Here you pass the water reservoir, Habbe Dam, where the lock distributes the water between the water mill in Allinge and at Hammershus. But in addition, Allinge harbor has really put itself on the map with the large political festival Folkemødet, where in 2019 there were approx. 114,000 participants.

The harbor is the city center and is surrounded by an exciting urban environment with really nice shopping and dining options directly on the quay, candy stores, crafts and everything in fish. 100 meters from the harbor there is a completely unique venue, "Gæsten", where many big names take to the stage under the open sky every day during the high season.
