Bisserup Marina – the quiet harbour on Agersø Sound

Bisserup sits on the southern coast of West Zealand, where Agersø Sound opens towards the Great Belt. This small marina is one of those places where you can still sense the fishing village in the atmosphere – a place where time moves at a different pace than in the larger marinas along the coast.

The harbour was originally built as a grain-shipping port for surrounding farms. Today it is shared between an active fishing community and a friendly sailing club, and it is precisely this blend of working harbour and leisure life that gives Bisserup its character.

Facilities for visiting sailors

The sailing club has built a service building with harbour office, showers and toilets. Guest berths are available, and the atmosphere among permanent and visiting sailors is relaxed and welcoming. The harbour is relatively small, creating an intimate setting – people greet each other, and it is easy to strike up conversation with locals over a beer in the evening sun.

Nature around Bisserup

The coastline at Bisserup is characterised by low salt meadows stretching along the sound. To the west lies the Basnæs area with bird-rich wetlands, and to the east you can walk along the coast to the small fishing village of Stigsnæs. The waters between Bisserup and Agersø are popular among sailors seeking sheltered passages with short distances to anchorages and bathing spots.

Bisserup Beach, just a few minutes' walk from the harbour, offers shallow, child-friendly water and is a favourite summer spot for families from across Slagelse Municipality.

Experiences nearby

From Bisserup it is a short distance to several gems of southwest Zealand. Skælskør with its well-preserved medieval town centre and colourful harbour houses is just 15 minutes west. To the north, Trelleborg – Denmark's best-preserved Viking fortress – spreads across the meadow by the Tude River.

Agersø, the charming island in the middle of the Great Belt, is reached by ferry from Stigsnæs – a short crossing that opens up car-free paths, salt meadows and the island's characteristic tranquillity.
