Alsted Kirke – a small tower-less church with views across the Limfjord

Alsted Kirke sits quietly and almost in solitude in the landscape of Mors – just a short walk from the Limfjord. Here the view opens up towards Fur, Livø and Himmerland, and the church appears as a calm point in a vast, open space. It is a place where you sense both the breadth of nature and the closeness of history.

Romanesque core and later additions

The church consists of a chancel and nave from the Romanesque period, built in the classic forms that characterise medieval village churches. The porch was added in the 17th century, lending the building a later layer without altering its simple and harmonious character.

A church interior preserved in its simplicity

Inside, Alsted Kirke is largely intact without significant alterations. Apart from an enlargement of the chancel arch, the interior remains close to its original form, giving it a particular sense of authenticity and quiet.

Traces of the past

Of the older furnishings, the pulpit from around 1625 remains as a central feature of the interior.

There are also a number of pew ends bearing coats of arms, bearing witness to the former ties between the church and local figures of influence.

These are small details that offer a glimpse into the church's history and the people who have passed through it.
