Audio walk: History and art in Aabenraa

Take a journey through Aabenraa's history on this audiowalk, which also guides you past the city's art. Only in Danish.

This tour starts at the Old Town Hall on Storegade 30 in Aabenraa and lasts approximately 1.5 hours if you complete the tour in one go. You can do the tour alone or in a group, and there are quizzes along the way. The tour is free.

On this audio walk, you'll follow the city's pedestrian street, where you'll experience Aabenraa's history and art in a completely new way. You'll learn about what makes the people of Aabenraa unique, the city's history, and its art.

In the first part of the tour, you'll experience Aabenraa's exciting history from the time when the city was a significant port city from which ships sailed to the seven seas. You'll see buildings and hear about houses with special architecture and history.

In the second part of the tour, you'll learn about the city's newest artworks located in Aabenraa's narrow passages - works created for the city by young Danish contemporary artists. Studio ThinkingHand, Silas Inoue, Torben Ribe, Helene Nymann, Oskar Koliander, Mathias&Mathias, Rune Bosse, and Vinyl -Terror and -Horror are all nationally recognized artists, each of whom has created their first public artwork specifically for Aabenraa. What inspired the artists to create these unique works? In interviews, you can listen to the artists themselves talk about how they found inspiration for the works - perhaps especially based on Aabenraa's exciting history.
