Blenstrup Church

Blenstrup Church dates back to the Romanesque period, when the nave and chancel were built. The tower and porch were added later during the Late Gothic period.

The church once contained a burial chapel for Corfits Viffert, who died in 1592, and Ane Gyldenstjerne. The chapel was demolished in 1818, but the gravestones and coats of arms were preserved and can now be seen in the porch.

Among the church furnishings are a pulpit from the 18th century and an altarpiece dating from the mid-17th century, featuring a painting from 1900. The Romanesque baptismal font is among the oldest surviving objects in the church.

The church has also preserved a special chasuble from 1677. It is decorated with the coats of arms and initials of Claus Daa and Sophie Amalie Lindenov, who owned Lindenborg from 1672 to 1688.

Several old coffin plates can be found in the tower room, bearing witness to the church’s long history and its importance to the local community.
