Christmas and winter at the Zoo
You might not think it, but The Zoo can be a great winter experience! Meet the garden's baby animals and see how they develop their winter coats. Also, this Christmas, you can create Christmas decorations from natural materials. And if it gets a little too cold, you can always warm up in one of the many indoor areas or at one of the restaurants.
Winter coats and indoor shelter from the cold
Discover how the animals at the Zoo adapt and evolve during the cold winter months and warm up in the Garden's many indoor areas. You may be lucky enough to meet the giraffes, the rhinoceros, or ‘dive’ underwater with the hippos. You can also meet the Garden's many baby animals.
Hang out with the walking sticks
In Zoolab, young and old alike can experience how a walking stick masters its “superpower”: camouflage, of course! On weekends and holidays, a zoo guide will be on hand, ready to share all their incredible knowledge about this amazingly cool animal.
Nature’s own Christmas workshop
Make this year’s most fabulous Christmas decorations from nature's own materials! Did you know, for example, that reindeer antlers are perfect as beautiful Christmas tree decorations? Or that a piece of wood can be turned into a cute Christmas mouse or smart gift tags that can be used for this year’s Christmas gift wrapping? You will find nature's Christmas workshop in the Children's Zoo House, where the zoo guides will be ready to help you create personalised and natural Christmas decorations, while also telling you about the skins and skulls of Nordic animals.
Take a break and grab a bite
If your stomach is growling as loudly as the lions in the Garden, you can take a well-deserved break at one of the Zoo's many eateries, which offer sweet, savoury, hot and cold food. It’s entirely up to you what you want to sink your teeth into!
Quiz on animal poo
Yes, you read that right. At the Zoo, you can test your knowledge – and hopefully become smarter – about something as strange and fascinating as animal poo. That's what I call a shitty quiz. Do you dare to guess what a panda’s poo looks like? Or what about a towering giraffe? If nothing else, you can find the answers in this quiz, which takes place on the first floor of the Zoo Shop. Along the way, you’ll get to see excrement from some of the zoo's animals – what a fantastic shitty experience.
