The Danish Bus Museum is worth a visit for all laddish boys and girls, adults and children alike, whether you are a dedicated bus nerd or simply think machines are fascinating. Or just cool.

The Bus History Association’s mission is to promote the knowledge of bus transport history in Denmark - a hitherto neglected area. The Bus History Association works on an idealistic basis. The Bus History Association's activities include all aspects of the bus industry’s history.

The association’s primary objective is the publication of the member magazine ”Busbladet,” published four times a year, and to promote the publication of text and books about busses and bus routes, along with hosting member meetings.

Another important task is to collect, maintain and systematise all kinds of source materials, such as objects, images, and documents to cast light on the bus industry's history to promote, among other things, promoting actual research in the field.

The changes in the bus industry in the 1990s resulted in many smaller bus companies having to close or change ownership. The source material must be collected now as it will be too late in just a few years.

The exhibitions at the Danish Bus Museum is comprised of effects, plans, pictures, and texts that tell the story of coach and bus history in Denmark. Through text and pictures, the story of bus companies, bodywork factories, etc., is told. The museum contains a library and archives, as well as a good atmosphere and the possibility of guided tours.

You can buy coffee, cake, ice cream and beverages at the museum or pre-order e.g. sandwiches to enjoy in one of our showrooms or the courtyard.

In addition to visiting the museum, the entrance ticket gives you access to see our many vintage buses in the exhibition hall and courtyard. During opening hours, you can buy tickets for a short trip in a vintage bus touring Skælskør.

Groups and bus companies are welcome on weekdays but only with prior booking.

The museum will be happy to help you arrange guided tours in the local area, e.g. an all-day excursion including a trip with tour boat Skjælskør V departing from Skælskør Harbour followed up with a trip in a vintage bus to visit the Danish Bus Museum. We can cater for up to 90 passengers on Skjælskør V and the Danish Bus Museum.
