Halsskov Harbour was once known for the DSB car ferries to Knudshoved near Nyborg. Today it is ideal for family diving – both snorkelling and scuba. You can dive here in any weather, and getting in and out of the water from the beach is easy.

What you will see

Snorkellers should swim to the left: the shallow water is full of small stones and eelgrass. Look carefully for pipefish and straightnose pipefish.

Scuba divers can swim to the right into the harbour area, which juts out like a three-pronged fork. Maximum depth is 10 metres, and there is plenty to look for – cod and bull-rout among others.

Night diving

The site is excellent for night dives. After dark you will meet entirely different fish than during the day; eelpout and eel are among the night-active species. In late summer you may be lucky enough to see bioluminescence underwater.

Diving safety

Always follow the rules of your diving certificate. You are responsible for your own safety.
There may be currents in the Great Belt – strength and direction can vary.
Never dive alone; always dive with at least one buddy.
Use a surface marker buoy.
